Pakistan’s dream of becoming polio-free could not become a reality NewsPipa

Islamabad: The dream of Pakistan becoming polio-free could not become a reality. The year’s first polio-positive environmental test has come out.

According to health ministry sources, the polio virus was confirmed in the environmental test of Lahore. Wild poliovirus 1 has been found in the sewage of Gulshan Ravi Lahore.

Sources say that poliovirus has been found for the first time in the sewers of Lahore this year. Samples for polio test were taken from different areas of Lahore on January 3.

Sources said polio virus was found in 37 sewage samples in the country last year. Genetic diagnosis of poliovirus in sewage samples is ongoing.
