Election Commission order to hold local elections in Karachi, Hyderabad and other districts on January 15
Islamabad (92 News) – The Election Commission rejected the Sindh government’s decision to postpone the local body elections and declared that the elections in Karachi, Hyderabad and other districts will be held on January 15.
The important meeting of the Election Commission was held under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, where the Election Commission expressed its displeasure over the decision of the Sindh government to postpone the local elections.
It was said in the meeting that either the federal government or the provincial governments do not want to hold any local government elections, all the debris of the amendment of the Islamabad Local Government Law was placed on the Election Commission.
All the arrangements for the local elections in Sindh were completed two days ago at the exact time the Sindh government took such a step. During the meeting, the Election Commission considered strict action against the Sindh government’s notification. It was decided that the Ministry of Home Affairs should be contacted again to ensure the deployment of army and rangers at the most sensitive polling stations during the elections.
