Rome: (Web Desk) Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church and spiritual leader of Christians, has emphasized maintaining the historical and legal status of occupied Jerusalem.
According to foreign media reports, Pope Francis expressed concern over the increasing violent incidents in occupied Jerusalem at the annual meeting of diplomats in Vatican City, saying that occupied Jerusalem should be a forum for peace rather than a theater of conflict.
He hoped that Palestine and Israel would resume direct negotiations in accordance with international laws and UN resolutions.
Palestine’s ambassador to Vatican City, Isa Qasiyya, conveyed to Pope Francis a message of good wishes on behalf of President Muhammad Abbas, urging him to pray for justice, peace and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people in occupied Jerusalem.
