Air India has identified the accused who allegedly urinated on the woman on the plane. He has been identified as Shekhar Mishra, a Mumbai-based businessman, aged 45-50 years. Shikhar Mishra is accused of stripping and urinating on a fellow passenger on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi on November 26, 2022. The police have registered an FIR against the accused based on the complaint of the female victim which she had earlier handed over to the airline.

However, the police were informed of the incident by the airline on 28 December, after which they contacted the victim to obtain more details in the case. When Air India shared the woman’s detailed complaint with the police, a case was registered against the accused on January 4, 2023. The woman gave her written complaint to the airlines on November 27, 2022. A case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the IPC for violation of a women’s dignity, indecency under the influence of alcohol, indecency in a public place and violation of flight rules.
