Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday while lashing out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan asked why the former Prime Minister gave extension to former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa when he was plotting against him [Imran Khan].
Reacting to the PTI leader’s interview to a private TV channel, she said that Imran Khan had already failed to realize his plan to default the country and he should better introspect the performance of his four-year government from 2018 to April 2022.
The minister alleged that the former prime minister consistently changed his narratives which were nothing but lies to mislead the people. “Imran Khan has changed his narratives like the weather (since he was removed from power),” she said.
The minister said that Imran Khan claimed that it came to his knowledge last summer that Shehbaz Sharif would become prime minister, which contradicted his earlier statements. He (Imran) used to say that he could even imagine Shehbaz Sharif becoming the CEO of the country.
Ironically, “foreign agent Imran Khan”, who had robbed Toshakhana and exchanged national interests for diamonds, had the audacity to question what wrong he had committed, she noted.
Marriyum said that Imran Khan behaved like a dictator and took autocratic steps against his opponents on false allegations but not a single allegation was proved.
Now the time had come for Imran Khan to answer for his misdeeds, she added.
The minister said astonishingly, Imran Khan had suddenly started commenting on the actions taken by former Army Chief General (Rtd) Qamar Javed Bajwa from 2021 to April 2022.
Marriyum said it was beyond comprehension why Imran Khan did not keep the people informed when the former army chief resisted the accountability process. At the same time, he had surprisingly held Tayba Gul hostage in the prime minister’s house for blackmailing the former head of the National Accountability Bureau.
She dared Imran Khan to tell the truth that why did he seek the support of the head of an institution to win the Senate election and also prevent his disqualification (as a member of the National Assembly) and why did he not take action when votes of parliamentarians were bought in both houses of parliament.
The evidence of horse-trading had emerged proving that Imran Khan had created a “political market” during the 2018 Senate elections, she added. His (Imran’s) leaked audio recordings were clear evidence of his involvement in political engineering and horse-trading
