Islamabad: The Steering Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNC) has approved ten development projects worth more than 414.90 billion rupees for various sectors, including reconstruction and rehabilitation in flood-affected areas.
According to Express News, the meeting of the Administrative Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNC) was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
ECNIC has approved the N5 road reconstruction and rehabilitation project worth 36.21 billion rupees. Under this project, 318 to 400 km of road and bridges will be reconstructed from Moro to Rajanpur. For this project, 32.5 billion rupees will be raised from foreign funding and these funds will be provided by the Asian Development Bank, while ten percent of the funds worth 3.6 billion rupees will be provided by the Government of Pakistan.
The road covers the flood-damaged section of National Highway N5 from Ranipur to Moro, with the bridge section comprising bridges on the National Highway Network in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
ECNIC also approved the emergency flood relief project worth more than 3 billion 82 crore rupees in total, for which 3 billion 30 crore rupees will be received from foreign funding, in the form of a loan from the Asian Development Bank to Balochistan. to the government, the project will be implemented in the flood-affected districts of Balochistan.
The proposed project envisages the rehabilitation of flood-damaged on-farm water management infrastructure to restore agricultural production in the heavily flood-affected districts of the province.
ECNIC also approved the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Project worth more than 48 billion 32 crore 72 lakh rupees. Funding for this project will be provided by the World Bank and addresses issues of institutional reform.
Apart from this, ECNIC also approved the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation Program worth more than 66 billion rupees for which funds of more than 69 billion rupees will be sourced from foreign funding.
ECNIC has approved a flood relief project worth over Rs 15 billion for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which will work on reconstruction and rehabilitation of irrigation, drainage systems and flood protection works in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In addition to the emergency flood relief project worth more than 11 billion rupees for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-affected irrigation infrastructure in Balochistan, the projects approved by ECNIC Sindh worth more than 70 billion 40 crore rupees include. Other projects include water and agriculture transformation projects.
