KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan has set an annual limit on carrying foreign currency for foreign travel, effective from January 1.
As announced by the State Bank, foreign currency limits have been fixed for foreign payments through debit or credit cards.
Spokesperson of the State Bank said that the limit of carrying foreign currency for travel purposes has been revised, as per the revised limit, one can carry currency equivalent to 5 thousand US dollars at a time.
Individuals under the age of 18 are allowed to carry the equivalent of US$2,500 per trip, while an annual foreign currency carrying limit is also set for adults and minors.
According to the State Bank, the said limits will be USD 30 thousand and USD 15 thousand respectively, but the current limit of foreign exchange for travelers to Afghanistan will remain.
The State Bank statement said that the foreign currency per visit limit will be effective immediately and the annual limit will be applicable from January 1, 2023.
