Businessman Dinesh Arora, who has been accused of irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case, on Monday tendered an apology to the CBI court and said he wants to be a witness in the case which also includes Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. As one of the accused.

Arora appeared before special judge MK Nagpal along with her lawyer RK Thakur and informed that she has withdrawn the plea. Arora also recorded her statement before Special Judge Nagpal. The court will hear arguments on the plea, although Arora’s lawyer told the court that it was a sensitive matter so the proceedings are expected to be held in camera.

Arora prayed for granting the tender of pardon, submitting, “I am willing to voluntarily disclose the truth and full disclosure of all facts relating to this case as it is within my knowledge.”

“I am also ready to make a voluntary and truthful disclosure about my role in the commission of the alleged offence. I have cooperated in the investigation of this case before. I have cooperated in CBI’s investigation of this case and made two statements before the IO (Investigating Officer) in this regard. i have

He also gave a confessional statement before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) about the facts and events related to the commission of the alleged offence,” Arora told the court.

The businessman said he made this statement “without any pressure, coercion or any other undue influence by the CBI on me”. “In consideration of the court, I am requested to be pardoned in this case. I am ready to comply with all the reasons and conditions,” he told the court.

The FIR was filed by the CBI in the case after LG VK Saxena recommended a CBI probe into Delhi’s excise policy 2021-22, with Sisodia, in-charge of the excise department, directly in the line of fire. In view of this, the Delhi government has announced the withdrawal of the policy.

The excise policy, which brought discounts to consumers and sellers of premium liquor, was scrapped on July 31 amid allegations of corruption and irregularities in its drafting and implementation.

The CBI has so far arrested Aam Aadmi Party-linked events company Only Much Louder (OML) Vijay Nair and businessman Abhishek Boinpali in the case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also arrested Sameer Mahendru, Managing Director of IndoSpirit Group. All three are in judicial custody.
