As the global pandemic wreaks havoc on the travel industry, Omio, Europe’s leading booking platform for train, bus and plane travel, compares data on pre-pandemic train, bus and plane bookings , released an analyzed EU mobility report. and today.

2 Traveling by land is a more affordable option. Airfares will be more expensive. Average consumer spending by travel mode is relatively stable compared to 2019.

3 Increase in last-minute bookings: Most travelers book same-day trips

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant and sustained increase in bookings for same-day travel, with the majority of bookings being made up to a week in advance.

Four Priority is given to short trips. With border closures and travel restrictions in place, short-haul trips (less than 250 miles) using ground transportation for these distances are on the rise, suggesting a preference for travel closer to home.
