Pakistan Army forces killed two terrorists during an exchange of fire in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the army’s media affairs wing said on Friday.

“Army forces have monitored and engaged the movement of terrorists in general area Sheikh Badin Mountains, Lakki Marwa. During the exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the slain terrorists, ISPR said.

The slain terrorists were actively involved in target killing and terrorist activities against the security forces.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Pakistan Army soldier was martyred after terrorists launched a cross-border attack from Afghanistan on troops stationed in Dotoi, a general area of North Waziristan district.

The soldier has been identified as 34-year-old Sepoy Nazr Muhammad, a resident of Jaffrabad. “Terrorists from inside Afghanistan across the international border opened fire on Pakistani troops in general areas,” an ISPR statement said, adding that Pakistani troops responded “in a befitting manner”.

“According to credible intelligence reports, due to firing by own troops, terrorists have suffered heavy losses,” the statement said.

“Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for activities against Pakistan and hopes that the Afghan government will not allow such activities to be conducted in the future.”

It said that the Pakistan Army is determined to protect Pakistan’s borders against the threat of terrorism, stressing that the sacrifice of brave soldiers strengthens the soldiers’ resolve.
