Nagpur. District and Sessions Court First Class Judge SS Yadav convicted the accused in a robbery case and sentenced him to 3 years rigorous imprisonment. The accused has been identified as Akash alias Goga Mukesh Verma (30), a resident of Jhanda Chowk, Premnagar. Akash was also fined Rs 5,000 in addition to the prison sentence. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional 2 months imprisonment. He was also sentenced to 3 months imprisonment for abuse.
According to information, Manoj Vittil Balgewar (45) runs a shop named Ma Santoshi Jewelers in Shantinagar police station area. It is alleged that on February 9, 2022, around 2.30 pm, Akash reached Manoj’s shop along with his partner Prateek Tejvan Tiwari (27). He had a screwdriver and an iron pan in his hand. Both demanded 2 thousand rupees from Manoj. On protesting, Akash hit Manoj on the head with a screwdriver and ran away with Rs 500 from his pocket. Based on Manoj’s complaint, the police registered a case and started investigation. Akash was arrested in the late night of February 10.
On the basis of the evidence and witnesses present during the hearing, the court found Akash guilty and sentenced him. In the case, investigating officer API Shivsagar Mishra filed the charge sheet and Chandrasekhar Gaikwad and Surekha Sonawane witnessed the court proceedings.
