Social media is abuzz with rumors of a military coup in China and the arrest of President Xi Jinping.
Social media users claim that Xi Jinping has been removed as the head of China’s People’s Liberation Army.
“New rumor to be verified: Is Xi Jinping under house arrest in Beijing? When Xi was in Samarkand recently, Chinese Communist Party leaders were supposed to remove Xi from the army party. Then house arrest. Hence rumours,” former cabinet minister and BJP leader Subrahmanyam Swamy said in a tweet.
Many Chinese citizens claim that the PLA has taken control of the military. Some even speculated that Li Qiaoming had been made President of China.

Meanwhile, #XiJinping is rumored to have been arrested when #CCP seniors escorted him to the PLA- was removed from the post of chief,” tweeted a Jennifer Zeng.
The Chinese President was in Samarkand, Uzbekistan to attend the recently concluded SCO Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin were also present in the meeting. India will host the next meeting.
