Diego Gambetta and Stephen Hartog in their book “Jihad: The Curious Connection with Extremism and Education” found that most jihadists are people with engineering backgrounds. Still, no country in the world has scrutinized engineering colleges as it would be considered madness to do so. Therefore, dismantling the madrassas may serve political interests in the immediate term, but the seeds of mistrust will create instability in the long run. Without thinking such actions will be disastrous in the long run.
No person or institution above the law but merely scrutinizing institutions based on suspicion or taking disciplinary action against them without following due process will serve no purpose but alienate Muslims as a community.
