New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a two-day national conference of state environment ministers at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat on Friday. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Modi will inaugurate the conference through video conferencing at 10.30 am.
According to the PMO, the Action Plan of States to effectively address the challenge of climate change aims to eliminate plastic pollution through a multi-pronged approach in the spirit of Lifestyle for Environment (LIFE) and cooperative federalism. 23 and 24 September are being organized to create more coordination between the Central and State Governments on such issues.
The conference will focus on increasing forest cover with special emphasis on reclamation of degraded land and wildlife conservation, the statement said. The two-day conference will have six thematic sessions. These include environmental planning for life, climate change challenges, single window evacuation facilities for environmental projects, forest management, pollution control and prevention, wildlife management and plastic and waste management.
