KU will organize ‘Media and Publishing Conference’ on September 26 NewsPipa

Srinagar: The Department of Publication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is organizing a “Media and Publishing Conference” in collaboration with the Center for Public Relations, University of Kashmir, on September 26, in Srinagar.

Kashmir University Vice-Chancellor Professor Nilofar Khan will be the chief guest. Eminent speakers include administrators, linguists, academics and domain experts expected to address the event.

The conference will include a session on development roadmaps for the region based on growth stories in various sectors and domains, outreach initiatives of the Ministry of I&B and media landscape for youth: opportunities and challenges. A panel discussion on linguistics and publishing scene in the region with focus on language heritage and richness in the region, literary works, publishing scenario, challenges and opportunities ahead; and, a lecture on the English language and the craft of writing academic publications.

Also, along with the event, in collaboration with CBC, J&K, and Public Relations Centre, University of Kashmir, a book exhibition of selected works of the Publication Department will be organized where books in different languages ​​will be sold. Discount rates at Gandhi Bhavan on 25-26 September.

About Publication Department

The Publications Department is a repository of books and journals of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that highlight subjects of national importance and India’s rich cultural heritage. Established in 1941, the Department of Publications has emerged as a premier publishing agency of the Government of India, enriching the national knowledge base in a distinctive manner through quality publications on land and people, history of freedom movement, art and heritage of India in various languages. Books on culture, flora and fauna, Gandhian literature, spirituality and mysticism, biographies of builders of modern India, speeches of presidents and prime ministers, contemporary science, economics, history and other subjects with an inherent focus on Indian society and readers; and children’s literature.

Apart from books, the Publications Division publishes 18 monthly magazines, including Yojana, Kurukshetra (English and Hindi), Bal Bharti (Hindi) and Aajkal (Hindi and Urdu), and a Samsangam weekly Rozgar Samachar (Hindi, Urdu)/Employment news. . (English). These journals have a huge readership and enjoy high credibility among the public. These journals reflect the initiatives of the government and the progress of the country in various fields covering a wide range of topics such as economic development, rural reconstruction, community development, literature, culture, children’s literature and information on employment and career opportunities.
