Amid incessant rain, Gurugram issues WFH advisory to private firms; School is closed on Friday NewsPipa

In the wake of heavy rains in Gurugram on Thursday and more rains predicted on Friday, the District Disaster Management Authority has issued an advisory to private institutions and corporate offices directing their employees to work from home to avoid road congestion. .

Also, all private educational institutions have been advised to close schools/colleges on Friday.

“This will help civic bodies expedite water drainage and repair works,” read the advisory

About 105 mm of rain was recorded in Gurugram and Manesar on Thursday, causing heavy waterlogging on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway.

Commuters on the expressway near Narsinghpur Chowk faced massive traffic jams and some people were seen wading through knee-deep water.

Pictures and videos of flooded expressway and service lane at Narsingpur chowk went viral on social media.

The Gurugram Traffic Police also updated commuters about the traffic movement through Twitter. Police asked commuters to consider working from home due to flooding and traffic congestion.

Also, heavy traffic was reported from Narsinghpur Chowk towards Rajeev Chowk on the Expressway late at night. Traffic was queued for several kilometers due to waterlogging at various points on the expressway.

There was bumper-to-bumper traffic due to the waterlogging which led to traffic jams on expressways and connecting roads.

DCP (traffic) Birendra Singh Sangwan said, “Senior police officials along with traffic police are present in rain-prone areas to ensure smooth movement of vehicles. We request people not to venture out unnecessarily.”

Hanuman Chowk, Sector-18, Narsinghpur, Jharsa Crossing, Sarhal Mode, Sector 29, Sector 44, Sector 38, Sector 50, Rajeev Chowk, Mahaveer Chowk, Sheetala Mata Road, Civil Lines, Golf Company are the most affected. , Vatika Chowk and Dwarka Expressway.

A section of a road was lashed by incessant rain in Delhi, causing waterlogging and uprooting of trees, causing massive traffic jams in many parts of the capital on Thursday.

The Delhi Traffic Police helpline received 23 calls related to traffic jams, seven related to waterlogging and two related to uprooting of trees from different parts of the city, officials said.

Following the rains, there was traffic jam from Khajuri Chowk, Goala Dairy, Yamuna Bridge, Outer Ring Road West Bihar, Rohini Sector-8, Hanuman Mandir Pusa Road, Azad Market, Dwarka Flyover, Dhaula Kuan to Gurgaon, officials said.
